Direct* YouTube playback. Embed* video players from services like YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, UStream, Livestream... or any other embed code into WS.WebTV.
This extension will allow you to:
1) Playback YouTube videos directly* with the WS.WebTV video player: Like any other WebTV video Clip.
2) Replace the WS.WebTV video player with any embed code*. This is very useful for using broadcasting/live streaming services like UStream, Livestream/Vimeo, etc. with your WebTV. Additionally, it will allow you to embed any video player (Windows Media Player, Real Player, etc.) or website´s embed code into a WebTV Channel.
What is an EmbedClip?
An EmbedClip is a special type of Clip that, instead of linking to video files, it stores an embed code or YouTube URL. When a YouTube URL is supplied, WS.WebTV will playback the video directly*; however, when a conventional embed code (HTML) is supplied, the WS.WebTV video player will get replaced by the embed code (at playback time).
This extension is complemented by the Batch Creator. If you use both extensions you will be able to mass embed videos from YouTube (including channels and playlists), Vimeo and Dailymotion.
Possible uses/applications
Play YouTube videos like any other WS.WebTV Clip.
Since YouTube videos will be played back like native Clips*, you can include them into any Channel playlist, mixed up with other Clips.
Use third party video broadcast/live streaming services like UStream, Livestream/Vimeo or similar video broadcasting websites that supply embed code. Those services allow you to do live broadcasts using a video camera or webcam, without needing costly dedicated servers, media servers, etc.
Embed Real Video, Windows Media, SilverLight, etc. Since this extension allows you to use any HTML/embed code, (if you require so) you can embed other specialized video players or plugins like Windows Media Player, Real Player, SilverLight, etc.
* NOTES:
• "Direct YouTube playback" is only supported on HTML5, through the YouTube Iframe API.
Note regarding playlists on HTML5: On desktop PCs, YouTube videos will play continuously; however, on mobile devices a user interaction is required in order to continue the playback. This is a limitation imposed by mobile browsers not by WS.WebTV.
• "Direct YouTube playback" functionality is subject to the terms (and will...) of YouTube. WebTV Solutions is not related in any way with YouTube and does not guarantee this functionality.
• When using EmbedClips into a Channel's playlist, it will interrupt the continuous playback of the playlist where they are included; this is because of the video player replacement, however, skip back/forward buttons will appear in order to continue with the Channel's playlist playback.
• The Interactivity feature of the WS.WebTV video player, or PlayerLogo extension, will only work with YouTube direct video playback (when using the WS.WebTV video player). They won´t work with conventional embeds or when the WS.WebTV video player has been replaced by an embed code or by the device native player.
• The "Embed" functionality is for general purpose. The possible uses/applications are only given as example and does not indicate the suitability for any particular use. Additionally; it is recommended a basic understanding of HTML in order to use this extension.
• We will not provide support for third-party's embed code issues.
• The use of embed codes from third party Websites is subject to the terms and conditions of those Webites. Additionally, it is possible that you won't be able to embed/import videos configured as private/restricted/protected on the third party Websites (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.).
• In order to use some YouTube related functions, a Google API Key is required. Additionally, the use of the YouTube API is subject to the terms and conditions of Google, as well as some free usage limits. For more information, check YouTube's document "Quota Usage".
• According to the Google/YouTube terms and conditions, you should not overlay elements in front of the YouTube video player; in this regard, you shall not use Interactivities with EmbedClips (direct playback case).
